This was a tough one for me. In this race, you have two solid pro-life, conservative, Christian candidates. The more I
learn about Mark Neumann, the more I like about him. Being in Christian education, Neumann’s experience in this area is a plus in my book. He seems to have a solid conservative background.
However, I will be supporting Scott Walker come Tuesday. While I don’t know Scott Walker extremely well, I have run into him a few times here and there. One of the things that strike me about Walker is that he is a man who looks you straight in the eye. I’ve had the opportunity to ask him several questions, each of which was answered in a detailed manner. He wasn’t put off or irritated with my questions. This is a guy who is confident in what he says, truly believes in what he says and just knows what he is talking about. He strikes me as an honest man who wants to be a public servant.
Yet, this is not the main reason why he will be receiving my vote. When I see two conservative candidates that both stand for my views and values, there must be some sort of tie-breaker. Here is what tips the scales for me – Scott Walker is an inspirational figure. My wife and I attended the Rock County Lincoln Day dinner and heard Walker speak for the first time. I was ready to jump out of my seat! His speech blew me away. Immediately after he was done, I
looked at my wife and said, “This man will be our next governor.” This skill is what will sway independents and moderates. His Reagan-like communication abilities is exactly what the conservative movement needs here in Wisconsin. To get people jarred out of their apathy and outrage, you need someone who can rally the troops, get people excited and even give them a vision of a greater future that lies ahead. Bottom line – Scott Walker can do this, Mark Neumann can’t.
I hope you will join me in voting for Scott Walker for governor of Wisconsin. For more information, please log on to http://www.scottwalker.org/
