Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired) was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia and is third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. His parents instilled in him a very basic principle, love of God and Country. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school for one year. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.

Allen West received his Bachelors degree from University of Tennessee and Masters degree from Kansas State University, both in political science. He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College in political theory and military operations.

Herman Cain

Herman Cain laughs at being described as “Steve Forbes with charisma,” but finds the comparison flattering. “That’s quite a compliment.… I have the greatest amount of respect for him.”

The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and Atlanta talk-radio host notes that he supported Forbes during the publishing executive’s unsuccessful 2000 Republican presidential primary campaign, and Forbes endorsed Cain’s 2004 Senate bid in the Georgia GOP primary.

Now, Cain is on the verge of embarking on his own presidential campaign, hiring staffing and preparing to form an exploratory committee. The combination of Forbes-like economic savvy and his own charismatic personality has triggered a remarkable level of excitement around Cain’s candidacy. He emerged the victor two weeks ago in an online poll at the popular Red State conservative blog. Organized in an elimination bracket format, that survey pitted Cain against Sarah Palin in the final round and — although, of course, such Internet polls are not scientific — the result demonstrated the Georgia businessman’s appeal to the conservative grassroots. Red State editor Erick Erickson said he “wouldn’t put too much stock” in the poll result, but added: “I would say it is a good sign for Herman Cain that, being relatively unknown, he can generate that much enthusiasm for himself.”

If Cain is “relatively unknown” to many people, he is a favorite of Tea Party activists. When he spoke at this year’s Tax Day Tea Party in Atlanta, several voices in the crowd shouted “Run, Herman, run!” Three days earlier, after getting a standing ovation for his speech at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Cain returned to the lectern to caution attendees against lining up too early behind any GOP presidential candidate for 2012 because, he said, “there might also be a dark horse candidate you don’t know about.”

John Bolton Eyes White House Run in 2012

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, who never has held elective office, says he is seriously considering running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

“As I survey the situation, I think the Republican field is wide open,” Bolton told Politico.

“I don’t think the party’s anywhere close to a decision. And stranger things have happened. For example, inexperienced senators from Illinois have gotten presidential nominations,” he added, alluding to Barack Obama’s presidential success.

Bolton’s strength would be in foreign policy and national security, given his history with the U.N., the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the State Department under both presidents Bush.

“I’m obviously aware that people are quite focused on the economy rather than foreign policy issues, but that is something that should and can be altered as people see the nature of the threats around the world that we face,” Bolton said.

Reince Priebus resigned as the Republican National Committee’s top legal counsel early Sunday morning, he told National Journal’s Hotline On Call.

Priebus, who is chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party, has said he is considering a bid to become the next RNC chairman, and his resignation could be a sign that he intends to pursue the post. Current Chairman Michael Steele has not announced whether he will seek re-election.

“In a private letter to Chairman Steele, I did resign today as General Counsel. I appreciated the opportunity to work with all of the members that make the RNC so special,” Priebus wrote in an e-mail to Hotline On Call.

Alvin Greene, the quirky former South Carolina Senate candidate, added additional hype to his potential bid for president earlier this week when he upped the likelihood of a run from “I’ll have to see,” to “I’m seriously considering.”

Not everyone is excited about the idea of this scenario.

“I am at a loss for words to describe this new development,” wrote S.C. Senate Democratic Caucus director Phil Bailey according to the Columbia Free Times.

But it’s possible that Bailey and other Democrats will be able to save their words, because Greene is hinting that he might not mount a campaign affiliated with their party.

“I don’t know which party I’ll run in as a candidate,” he told the Times. “I’m thinking about that.”

My Endorsement in the Wisconsin Governor’s Republican Primary Race – Scott Walker

It was my intention to endorse Chad Lee for US Congress.  He is a principled conservative.  He is also a deeply-committed Christian, I will personally vouch for that fact.  He also is the best challenge Tammy Baldwin has ever received. 

However, I am disappointed in Chad’s campaign.  I did mention this during the primary when I endorsed Peter Theron instead of Chad.  I have still yet to see a lot substance coming from the Lee campaign.  But, this is his first run for office and, realistically a freshman congressman probably won’t be writing too much landmark legislation.  Yet, what really disappoints me is one of Chad’s latest campaign ad which features the exploitation of Tammy Baldwin as she dances around without much awareness of how she looks while doing so.  I know many will criticize what I say next, but the ad is just inappropriate.  I would like to think that Chad Lee has more respect for a US Congresswoman than that.  I would like to think that Chad would not have to stoop so low in trying to win this seat.  But, I would be wrong in thinking that.  I would also think that as a Christian, Chad would have thought twice about airing something so provocative (yes, I went there). 

Before you start writing me e-mails or getting upset with me, let me remind everyone of a few things.

(1)    I am entitled to my first amendment rights to air my thoughts and opinions in a legal manner.  Just because Chad is a republican does not mean I do not have the right to criticize the man when I think it is called for.

(2)    Just because Chad Lee is a Christian does not mean he is above criticism.  If anything, a man of faith should be held to a high standard.  Let me also add that just because I am a Christian and Chad is a Christian in no means obligates me to throw my complete support toward him.  Like everybody else, he must earn my vote.

(3)    This is not a personal attack.  In my personal conversations with Mr. Lee, I have found him to be a humble, engaging and interesting person.  I admire the talents he is so obviously blessed with.  He has great potential and would even make a great US Congressman.  In other words, I like the man. 

(4)    It was my intention to endorse Chad.  This has nothing to do with sour grapes over Peter Theron’s loss.   However, I just cannot completely support a man who airs ads I deem inappropriate. 

With all that having been said, I will absolutely and unhesitatingly vote for Chad Lee on Tuesday.  I will be praying for his victory.  Yet, I cannot give him my full endorsement.
